Design Process
To Begin...
We ask you to complete our Wedding Vision Form. The Form helps us learn about you, your style, vision, what color is pleasant to you, the description of your wedding, your measurements, and any other details you think we should know. This form specially designed to give us accurate representation about your preferences. We will email or call you within 48 hours to set up an Initial Consultation with Zoya, our couturier.
Also, you may contact us via email Contact if you are having difficulty opening the link above, and we will send you our Wedding Vision Form with an attachment. You can then e-mail it to us before your Initial Consultation appointment.
The Initial Consultation:
The process of creating the dress of your dreams begins with a free Initial Consultation whether they are in ZoyaModa Atelier, at your home, or a meeting for a cup of coffee. During this consultation, you, the Bride-to-be and Zoya, our couturier, briefly go over your Wedding Vision Form and discuss your preferences, time schedule, and budget. You can also learn about all of the options available to you, view portfolio of gowns that Zoya has made for previous clients, look at fabrics, and get to see where your dress will be created. You will also have the opportunity to meet with our Manager, Zhanna, who will help you organize your dressmaking process. We will also both ask and answer questions. If we decide to work together on a project, then we can schedule our next meeting, the Design Consultation.
The Design Consultation:
($25 per hour, with $25 minimum, are due at the time of consultation. If we decide to work together on a project, the consultation fee is 100% applicable to the cost of your dress).
Prior to this consultation, please do your own research and provide us with printouts, photos, sketches, and any other visual ideas to help you describe the exact style you want. They are extremely helpful in the design process. If you don’t know exactly what you want; our Atelier is filled with ideas to inspire you.
During this Consultation, Zoya guides you through design ideas and color options; discusses styles, pattern development, fabrics/materials, trims, fitting issues and budget, and offers advice on embellishment and finesse touches. Zoya will also be taking your Measurements to expedite the design process. Please make sure you wear the proper underclothing for the measurements to be taken. (This includes your favorite bras, body shapers, hosiery, and shoes of the heel height and platform you will wear with the garment or the support you would like to see while wearing your custom made wedding dress. If you aren't sure what type of undergarments would work best with your garment, ask Zoya for advice. Please make sure you mention to Zoya if you are planning to change your dress size before the wedding and/or if you are pregnant).
Right after the Consultation, Zoya will sketch out several design options for you relating to the dress silhouette you liked the most, and set up a price range for each one of the types of gowns designed which you can view via e-mail. You can then decide which option suits you best. We may not be able to give you an exact quote on the same day of your Design Consultation, because we would like to carefully calculate all the materials and time needed to complete the Gown you have chosen. Garment Price is affected by design details, pattern development, trims, and embellishments; however we’ll discuss pricing without obligation until it is time for your first Partial Payment.
The price range we set up is guaranteed never to go over the highest price range as long as you didn't make any changes to the design.
Design Proposal:
After the Design Consultation, if you would like to move forward, we will send you a Purchase Agreement (contract) to review, along with a general timeline (Business Policies) and rough cost estimation (Design Proposal) for you to approve and send back to us along with a 50% deposit. When we have received your signed Purchase Agreement, Business Policy and 50% First Partial Payment, we will provide you with a color illustrated image of the dress Zoya will be creating for you along with fabric swatches you can keep.
Please ask questions if there's something you don't understand - it's there to make sure everyone's expectations are clear.
